Generosity and solidarity hard on
During the health crisis caused by COVID19, our brand is committed to supporting those who are fighting on the front lines against the virus. In March 2020, the entire team mobilized to meet the local demand for masks by transforming its Perpignan premises into a sewing workshop. With the help of volunteer seamstresses, we were able to make more than 48,000 fabric masks from the canvas intended for our espadrilles.
All these masks were subsequently distributed free of charge to staff in the medical and social branches of our department (Pyrénées Orientales, 66). Caregivers, nurses, clinics, homes, home help, hospital staff and nursing homes were able to benefit from it. We were also able to offer some to Restos du coeur volunteers, police officers, gendarmes and firefighters.
They brought a little color and put a smile on the face of medical staff patients at a time when there were not yet masks available for everyone. To limit our waste, the masks we made were reusable and resistant to more than 50 washes.
Apprentices of Auteuil
We have chosen to get involved locally with the Apprentis d'Auteuil association to support disadvantaged children. Every year, in December, part of our profits is donated to this association to offer Christmas gifts to children hosted by Maison Sant Jordi, an establishment located in Perpignan specializing in Child Social Assistance. We also spend the day of December 24 alongside these children to share a friendly and warm moment in joy and good humor.
Collection of waste
Did you know that the Mediterranean is the most polluted sea in the world? This is a fact that particularly affects us because we are based in Perpignan, very close to this threatened marine ecosystem. We wanted to remedy this tragedy on our scale by organizing a waste collection on Barcarès beach. A significant event which showed us the extent of the damage caused by maritime pollution. More than 200 people joined us and in one morning we were able to collect 8 tonnes of waste.
